The IUC libraries are committed to providing cutting-edge and competitively viable library services informed by the University’s ethos and curricula by:

  • Supporting the research interests of the academic and student clientele through the provision of and referral to relevant information sources, including access to electronic databases;

  • Delivering coordinated and quality library services based on its human and material resources;

  • Enabling all library users to become self-reliant in locating and utilizing any needed information resource, for example, by offering support and training in the use of the catalogue system, APA referencing and the use of electronic databases;

  • Functioning as learning centres through 
    • Mounting displays about research and topical issues
    • Displays of student work, for example, group work presented as part of students’ course work;

  • Actively exploring resource-sharing opportunities with regional and international libraries as a way of maximizing its customer satisfaction potential.

Registered students have access both to print material in the libraries and to the electronic databases, EBSCO and Questia. EBSCO Information Services provides a wide range of research databases, e-books and e-journals. Similarly, Questia provides e-books and periodical articles, as well as student tools, such as highlighting, note taking, bookmarks and project folders. It assists in generating citations and lists of references in APA format.
